Born in Iasi, he graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest and left for Israel in 1972.
Specialization in Intensive Care in 1980 (Toronto General Hospital, Toronto, Canada).
Doctor Honoris Causa, Bucharest University of Medicine (1995), Tg Mures University of Medicine (2012) Chisinau University of Medicine (2014) Iasi University of Medicine (2015), Tbilisi University of Medicine (2015), honorary member of some national societies of anesthesia (Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Republic of Moldova, Serbia).
Decorated with the Sanitary Merit with the rank of Commander by the President of Romania (2013) and with the Order of Honor by the President of the Republic of Moldova (2019).
Author of many scientific works, handbooks, treatise chapters (USA, Germany, Italy).
Member of editorial committees of highly ranked scientific journals
