Head of Department for Transfusion Medicine; Lecturer in History of Medicine
Born in Seklerburg (Romania) in 1960, he comes from a family with Transylvanian-Saxon and Transylvanian-Hungarian roots. After concluding medical studies (1985) at the University Hospital Cluj – Napoca (Romania), he initially undertook an hospital internship before accepting a General Practitioner position in 1988. In 1990, he moved with his family to Nuremberg and became an Assistant Doctor at the Bavarian Blood Donation Service (BRC) in Bayreuth. In 1998, he was promoted to Transfusion Medicine Specialist and from 2000 to 2008 headed the Institute. Subsequently, after four years in the commercial pharma sector (Kedrion), in 2012 Dr. Offner joined the University Hospital Regensburg. Since 2020, I have been head of the Transfusion Medicine department and have completed my habilitation in history of medicine. I am a member of several societies focused on the history of medicine and sciences in Germany and abroad. My achievements in this field include: 7 book editions, more than 70 publications and many guest lectures.
